Fri 11 - Sun 13 Sep Chichibu: Open session with Shen @ Greenhouse

Hi folks,

Shen's News: Tadaima! I'm in Japan, currently at the Greenhouse in Chichibu. We'll be having an Open session with Shen, also featuring Baku on sarod and Kei on sitar, all weekend. Please come along, it will be fun!

Next week I'll be visiting Nagoya and Kyoto for a couple of concerts there. I hope to meet my Kansai friends then, as this year my Kansai time is very short, sorry.

Following Kansai, it's back to Tokyo for a series of concerts with my good friend, Tibetan singer Tenzin Choegyal. I've been dreaming of bringing Tenzin to Japan for years. Not to be missed, everybody!!!

来週名古屋と京都で演奏します。残念ながら、今年は関西に泊まる時間が短いので、16日と20日に名古屋と京都の友達に会いたいです。

関東へ戻ったら、チベットのシンガーのTenzin Choegyalと一緒にツアーします。ずっと前からTenzinさんを連れて来たいと思っていました。かれのコンサート、どうぞお見逃しなく！

Taro and Sangeet 2009 Australia Tour blogs

Shen's News: The tour with Sangeet Mishra and Taro Terahara was a big success and a great experience, all fully blogged up with photos and stories of our trip which covered 4500km and 13 concerts in 18 days. Shen's News: Well, well, here I am back in Brisbane after 2 very pleasant months by the Ganga in Varanasi. Since my last email newsletter I've blogged a whole bunch of stuff from this trip: Yoga Mandir (my guest house), Concert at Munna House, Kathak dance Raj English School, Jimi-san in Varanasi, Alice Boner's art at Bharat Kala Bhavan, 5th Annual Ashu Babu Memorial Concert, Various concerts I saw in Varanasi, Ghat cricket, Kuchipudi and Odissi at Kamani Auditorium, Delhi, and finally my tabla lessons at Kathak Kendra. It was a great trip - if you want to flick through all the photos the best way would be to go straight to my main blog page.

My big news coming up is that Taro Terahara is coming to Australia again April 15 to May 7 and we'll be touring the country with sarangi player Sangeet Mishra. If you'd like to see our full schedule have a look at the tour page.

今週アメリカの友達のサロードのSteve OdaとタブラのTy Burhoeの日本ツアーが始まります。ライブ情報は下です。

Shen's News: I'm having a splendid time here by the banks of the Ganga in Nagwa, south Varanasi. I've had a few concerts - tabla solo for Saraswati Puja at Guru-ji's, which was an amazing experience, one on Munna House with Japanese sitar player Yohei, and one yesterday in a school with Kathak dancer Kazumi Nishikawa. I'll be blogging those last two some time soon.... In the meantime, I have posted photos and stories of Tibet2Timbuk2 and friends at Cafe Checocho back in Brisbane.

This weekend is a big one in Varanasi. Monday is Mahashivaratri (Shiva's Night) so all weekend there are two big music festivals including the Dhrupad Mela. Jimi-san is coming to town on Monday and we will play together in a concert next Friday.

シェンのニュース: こちらガンガ川の側すごい楽しいです。３つのコンサートがあった。１つ目はグルジーの家で、Saraswati Pujaのためにささげたタブラソロ。すごい経験でした。２つ目はムーナハウスの屋上で、日本人のシタールのヨヘイくんと。３つ目は昨日、学校でカタックダンスの西川かずみ。シタールとカタックの写真はまだブログしていないけど、最近ブリスベンでのTibet2Timbuk2 and friends at Cafe Checochoというライブの写真をUPしました。

ヴァラナシで今週末は特別です。月曜日はMahashivaratri（シヴァ神の夜）という祭りですので、今週末はずっと音楽界がある、たとえばDhrupad Mela。月曜日にもサントゥルのジミーさんがヴァラナシに着いて、金曜日に一緒にコンサートします。
