Shen's News: Well, Tenzin has come and gone and Japan will never be the same again. :-) Slight exaggeration, but we had a really great time and he made a huge impression on everyone who came to our shows. It was a really great experience for me to be play with Tenzin almost every day for a week, and along with bansuri player Taro Terahara we developed a really tight act. As usual I'm a bit slow on the blogs, but in the meantime you can see "Tenzin in Japan" photos on Facebook.

Shen's News: I had a quiet time seeing a few friends in Nagoya and Kyoto last week, but now it's time this tour got serious. I have 15 shows in the next 19 days, mostly in Tokyo! My show with Hide Iwai tomorrow night is sold out, but be sure not to miss my good friend, Tibetan singer Tenzin Choegyal who arrives on Thursday for a series of shows starting Friday. I've been dreaming of bringing Tenzin to Japan for years. Not to be missed, everybody!!!

Shen's News: Tadaima! I'm in Japan, currently at the Greenhouse in Chichibu. We'll be having an Open session with Shen, also featuring Baku on sarod and Kei on sitar, all weekend. Please come along, it will be fun!
Next week I'll be visiting Nagoya and Kyoto for a couple of concerts there. I hope to meet my Kansai friends then, as this year my Kansai time is very short, sorry.

Shen's News: The tour with Sangeet Mishra and Taro Terahara was a big success and a great experience, all fully blogged up with photos and stories of our trip which covered 4500km and 13 concerts in 18 days. Shen's News:I'm having a splendid time here by the banks of the Ganga in Nagwa, south Varanasi. I've had a few concerts - tabla solo for Saraswati Puja at Guru-ji's, which was an amazing experience, one on Munna House with Japanese sitar player Yohei, and one yesterday in a school with Kathak dancer Kazumi Nishikawa. I'll be blogging those last two some time soon.... In the meantime, I have posted photos and stories of Tibet2Timbuk2 and friends at Cafe Checocho back in Brisbane.
This weekend is a big one in Varanasi. Monday is Mahashivaratri (Shiva's Night) so all weekend there are two big music festivals including the Dhrupad Mela. Proceeds go to support Tibetan Children's Village. シェンの ニュース: こちらガンガ川の側すごい楽しいです。3つのコンサートがあった。1つ目はグルジーの家で、Saraswati Pujaのためにささげたタブラソロ。すごい経験でした。2つ目はムーナハウスの屋上で、日本人のシタールのヨヘイくんと。 3つ目は昨日、学校でカタックダンスの西川かずみ。シタールとカタックの写真はまだブログしていないけど、最近ブリスベンでのTibet2Timbuk2 and friends at Cafe Checochoというライブの写真をUPしました。
